How to find the information

Property-tax records are local. The example below covers Newport City only. For a different municipality in Orleans County, use the Office website link to the state municipal directory, identify the city/town where the parcel lies, and ask its clerk or treasurer for the responsible delinquent-tax collector.

For Newport City property, use the current City Clerk & Treasurer page and ask which office holds the requested delinquent real-property records or current payoff. The page provides current office contacts, payment/record services and separate searchable land-record navigation.

Request an existing delinquent real-property report, year-by-year account history or current payoff, giving the municipality, parcel/account identifier if known, tax years, desired as-of date and preferred inspection or electronic-copy format. Ask which existing record is available and obtain an estimate for copies, extracts or certification before ordering.

What to ask for

“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Orleans County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”

Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.

County-specific notes

Newport City and Newport Town are different municipalities. An older city Current Tax Rate 2023–2024 page gives different installment dates and older collection contacts; this guide uses the current Clerk/Treasurer contact rather than reusing those dates or an older staff email. Land-record searches and the grand list have different scopes from unpaid-tax account histories. Office website: January 2026 state municipal directory. Choose local contacts rather than the separate county-clerk list. Source review verifies access guidance, not taxpayer liability. No taxpayer query, payment, registration or records-request submission was made; no owner-level rows are republished.

We help you locate records; we do not store taxpayer lists, determine delinquency, collect taxes, or sell tax liens. Confirm balances, payment status, deadlines, and fees with the responsible office. A tax-sale list is not a complete list of delinquent accounts.
