County tax-records access guidanceHow to find the information
Real Estate Taxes FAQs says tax-account records are public and available to anyone who inquires. Use the Tax ID in the upper-left of the Notice of Taxes Due, and request the existing record or current amount from 605-387-4213. Separate payment guidance provides an online service and automated phone option.
To request an existing delinquent real-property report, parcel account/payment ledger, bill copy or dated redemption/payoff calculation, provide the county parcel/Tax ID if known, tax years and payable years, desired as-of date and preferred inspection or electronic-copy format. Ask whether the record includes special assessments, tax certificates, interest, penalties and costs. Confirm any copy, certification or extract charge and ask for an existing report rather than assuming the office creates custom lists. A valuation, payment screen, dated publication or tax-deed record does not certify today’s unpaid balance.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Hutchinson County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
The FAQs distinguish special assessments, tax certificates and current-year payments from prior delinquent years. A paid current bill alone does not establish that every prior delinquent year or certificate amount is cleared. The office phone is corroborated by the state Department of Revenue Treasurer directory; confirm the current property-tax counter. No taxpayer query, payment, account registration or records-request submission was made. No taxpayer rows or owner-list attachments are included in this import.
