Providence County municipal Tax Collectors — choose the city or town
State directory of municipal tax collectorsHow to find the information
Start with the city or town where the property is located. The state directory button lists municipal tax collectors; this county page groups the 16 relevant municipalities below. For an existing delinquent real-property report, payment history or current payoff, specify the municipality, parcel/account or plat/lot identifier if known, tax years, desired as-of date and inspection or electronic-copy format. Ask which existing record is available and request a fee estimate for any copies, export or certification.
Burrillville — 401-568-4300 (ask for Tax Collector). Official route: https://www.burrillville.org/tax-collector. The Tax Collector page provides bill-assistance guidance and tax-bill notices. Use the collector for existing delinquent real-estate records; valuation and exemption questions belong to the assessor.
Central Falls — 401-727-7400 (City Hall; ask for Tax Collections). Official route: https://www.centralfallsri.gov/finance. Finance says its tax staff collects real-estate taxes and issues Municipal Lien Certificates. The page advertises a June 5, 2025 tax sale and 2025 advertisement; those are historical, not an October 2026 unpaid roll.
Cranston — 401-461-1000 (City Hall; ask for Tax Collections). Official route: https://www.cranstonri.gov/departments/finance/tax-collections/. Use Tax Collections and its separate staff directory for the collection desk. The number shown is the city’s published switchboard. Motor Vehicle Tax Bills and assessed property values are separate from a delinquent real-estate report.
Cumberland — 401-728-2400 (ask for Tax Collections). Official route: https://www.cumberlandri.gov/245/Tax-Collections. The current Tax Collections page links Delinquent Tax Balance. That published route was identified, but its downstream controls, current balances and full historical or countywide coverage were not tested.
East Providence — 401-435-7544. Official route: https://eastprovidenceri.gov/node/1266. Use Tax Collection Division, not the tangible-business assessment page in the state directory. It links tax bills and Late Payments and Delinquent Accounts; its April 15, 2026 tax-sale information is past and also concerns water/sewer charges.
Foster — 401-392-9206. Official route: https://townoffosterri.gov/247/Tax-Collector. The current collector page says its Taxpayer Services payment-history route needs the account number from the bill. It posts a $25 Municipal Lien Certificate fee. Its September 24, 2026 sale notice is past, not an upcoming sale or complete unpaid roll.
Glocester — 401-568-6206 ext. 4. Official route: https://www.glocesterri.gov/departments.htm#collector. The department guidance directs bill-copy requests to Tax Collector extension 4; extension 3 is the assessor. Separate Tax Collector Notices are available. Ask for unpaid real-property records rather than using valuation or exemption data.
Johnston — 401-351-6618 ext. 2. Official route: https://www.johnstonri.gov/1264/Tax-Collection. Use the current Tax Collection page. The current staff directory gives the collection office extension 2, with a separate direct staff line. The town homepage alone does not establish searchable delinquency coverage.
Lincoln — 401-333-1100 ext. 8001. Official route: https://www.lincolnri.gov/174/Tax-Collector. Use Tax Collector, not the Tax Assessor link in the state directory. The collection office has extension 8001 and separate Municipal Lien Certificate and online-bill navigation; confirm which existing record answers the requested years.
North Providence — 401-232-0900. Official route: https://northprovidenceri.gov/tax-collector/. The Tax Collector page separates forms and Tax Sale Information. Use the collector for account status, real-property history or an existing delinquency report; a sale notice is limited to the stated offering.
North Smithfield — 401-767-2200 ext. 511. Official route: https://www.nsmithfieldri.gov/169/Taxes—-Property-Water-Sewer. The current Taxes — Property, Water, Sewer page lists office extension 511 and a View Your Tax Bill Online route. Filter the request to real property; water/sewer balances and a bill portal are not automatically an unpaid-tax export.
Pawtucket — 401-728-0500 (ask for Tax Collector). Official route: https://www.pawtucketri.com/tax-collectors-office. Use the Tax Collector’s Office for current balances and existing real-estate tax records. Specify the property/account and tax years and distinguish delinquent real estate from tangible or older motor-vehicle tax accounts.
Providence — 401-331-5252. Official route: https://www.providenceri.gov/tax-collector/. The city links Check or Pay My Taxes and dated tax-sale/sold/redeemed publications. Its FAQ says its outside collection agency handles delinquent car and business taxes, not real estate; request real-estate account records from the city collector. Phone is published in the Rhode Island Department of State municipal-collector directory; confirm current routing when calling.
Scituate — 401-647-5526 ext. 128. Official route: https://www.ri.gov/towns/view/scituate/. The municipal Tax Collector page could not be inspected successfully. This entry uses the state’s town profile and published collector contact directory; ask for the current public account-access route or existing delinquent real-estate file. A failed retrieval does not prove permanent unavailability. Phone is published in the Rhode Island Department of State municipal-collector directory; confirm current routing when calling.
Smithfield — 401-233-1005. Official route: https://www.smithfieldri.gov/departments/finance/tax-collector. Indexed official collector guidance lists real-estate collection and a $25 Municipal Lien Certificate fee. The direct page returned 403 during review, so no native account controls were tested. Its Pay Taxes guidance describes a tax-summary/current-bill route, not a confirmed complete unpaid-account export.
Woonsocket — 401-767-9274. Official route: https://www.woonsocketri.gov/533/Treasury-Tax-Collections. The current Treasury / Tax Collections page separately lists property taxes, water and sewer receipts and publishes the collection phone. Request real-estate tax history or an existing delinquency file; a combined payment service has a broader scope.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Providence County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
The Office website link opens the RI.gov Cities & Towns directory. For recorded instruments, RI.gov also provides Land Records / Tax Assessments at https://www.ri.gov/towns/landtaxdata/ and directs users to each municipal Town/City Clerk. Do not substitute tax assessments for collection balances or assume a historical lien, tax-sale notice, sold list or redemption list is the full current unpaid-account population. Providence city and East Providence are separate municipalities. Scituate is a state-directory contact route where the municipal page could not be inspected; Smithfield was reviewed through indexed official guidance after direct retrieval returned 403. No account query, payment, registration or records-request submission was performed. No owner-level tax rows were downloaded or republished. Reviewed status applies to the access guide, not taxpayer liability.
