Where to look, which office to contact, and how to request records.
Where to obtain records
Monroe County Tax Claim Bureau
Official delinquent-record access and collection-jurisdiction guidanceHow to find the information
The Bureau separates Upset, Judicial and Repository sales and an Overbid Process for amounts paid beyond taxes and fees. Use its Tax Lien Certificate Request for a dated certified record; each parcel needs its own form and payoff date. The form says a raised seal prevents fax/email delivery and requires a stamped return envelope.
For an existing record request, identify the parcel/map/control number, municipality, school district, tax years and desired as-of date. Specify the unpaid collection ledger, tax-status/lien certificate, dated sale publication, sale file/result, redemption or stay-of-sale figure, or surplus-distribution record needed. Ask which county, municipal and school levies and later payments/costs are included, and whether another collector holds a component. A tax-status certificate is a records service, not an investment lien purchase. Confirm the custodian and published copy/certification or optional enhanced-access charges before ordering. Request existing records; do not assume a custom countywide extract will be created.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Monroe County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
Verified denotes reviewed published access instructions, including explicit written or staff-assisted record/payoff routes; no taxpayer query was tested. Reviewed October 29, 2026. Current local bills, returned unpaid claims, dated upset/judicial/private/repository sale records and surplus proceeds have different scope. Sale-stage and redemption rules must be confirmed for the applicable county, statute and case; no statewide deadline is asserted. No taxpayer search, portal login, registration, record request, payment or owner-list republication was performed.
