PROPERTY TAX RESEARCH, MADE SIMPLER
Summit County, Ohio
Where to look, which office to contact, and how to request records.
Where to obtain records
Summit County Fiscal Office / Treasurer Division
Official tax-record access and collection-stage guidanceHow to find the information
Use the Fiscal Office’s Property Tax and Appraisal link for available parcel tax information; its property access menu separates Taxes Due, Tax Detail and Tax History. The Sheriff’s after-sale instructions specifically direct Sheriff-sale tax payoffs to Fiscal Office Delinquent Tax at 330-643-2600 and require identifying the request as a Sheriff-sale payoff. Confirm the current visiting location because Fiscal Office relocation notices may differ from the standard address.
For an existing record request, identify the parcel, municipality/tax district, tax years and desired as-of date. Specify the unpaid collection ledger, dated delinquent publication, tax-lien/certificate record, foreclosure case, sale result, redemption calculation or surplus-proceeds record needed. Ask which taxes, assessments, penalties, interest and legal costs are included, and how later payments are posted. Ask the named office to identify the custodian for court files or excess proceeds. Request existing records and confirm inspection, electronic-copy, certification and extraction charges before ordering; do not assume a custom countywide report will be created.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Summit County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
Verified means published access instructions were reviewed, including explicit staff-assisted bill/ledger routes; no taxpayer query was tested. Reviewed October 29, 2026. An annual bill, certified delinquent list, lien sale, foreclosure, property sale, redemption and surplus record have different scope and dates. Confirm tax year versus payment year and later costs with the custodian. No taxpayer search, account registration, records request, payment or owner-list republication was performed.
