Portage County Treasurer
Official tax-record access and collection-stage guidanceHow to find the information
The county publishes a Delinquent Tax Division contact at 330-297-2243 and separates delinquency policy, tax-lien sales, bankruptcy and foreclosure. The Treasurer’s office page links Search Property Records and Public Records. Use those county links for available records, then ask the delinquent division for the existing ledger, lienholder status and current costs not shown on a routine bill.
For an existing record request, identify the parcel, municipality/tax district, tax years and desired as-of date. Specify the unpaid collection ledger, dated delinquent publication, tax-lien/certificate record, foreclosure case, sale result, redemption calculation or surplus-proceeds record needed. Ask which taxes, assessments, penalties, interest and legal costs are included, and how later payments are posted. Ask the named office to identify the custodian for court files or excess proceeds. Request existing records and confirm inspection, electronic-copy, certification and extraction charges before ordering; do not assume a custom countywide report will be created.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Portage County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
