How to find the information

The Treasurer FAQ explicitly routes payment information and missing/lost tax bills to the office, while valuation and special-assessment calculations go to the Auditor. Ask for a duplicate bill and existing unpaid collection ledger with the requested as-of date. The office maintains tax payment records and offers delinquent arrangements; clarify the balance and applicable costs with staff rather than treating the credit-card checkout as an unpaid-roll report.

For an existing record request, identify the parcel, municipality/tax district, tax years and desired as-of date. Specify the unpaid collection ledger, dated delinquent publication, tax-lien/certificate record, foreclosure case, sale result, redemption calculation or surplus-proceeds record needed. Ask which taxes, assessments, penalties, interest and legal costs are included, and how later payments are posted. Ask the named office to identify the custodian for court files or excess proceeds. Request existing records and confirm inspection, electronic-copy, certification and extraction charges before ordering; do not assume a custom countywide report will be created.

What to ask for

“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Madison County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”

Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.

County-specific notes

Verified means published access instructions were reviewed, including explicit staff-assisted bill/ledger routes; no taxpayer query was tested. Reviewed October 29, 2026. An annual bill, certified delinquent list, lien sale, foreclosure, property sale, redemption and surplus record have different scope and dates. Confirm tax year versus payment year and later costs with the custodian. No taxpayer search, account registration, records request, payment or owner-list republication was performed.

We help you locate records; we do not store taxpayer lists, determine delinquency, collect taxes, or sell tax liens. Confirm balances, payment status, deadlines, and fees with the responsible office. A tax-sale list is not a complete list of delinquent accounts.
