How to find the information

Start with the municipality where the parcel lies. New Jersey municipal collectors hold the local collection account, even when the bill includes county or school charges. The example below covers Morris Township only. For another place in Morris County, use the Office website link to the state’s County and Municipal Web Sites directory, then confirm the municipality’s official collector and public-records custodian. That directory cautions that some listed sites may not be official.

For Morris Township property, use Tax Collector. Its guidance says lien-redemption requests must be written to that office, include the expected payment date and describe the requester’s legal interest. It directs redemption through the collector rather than approaching the certificate holder.

For records beyond the published page, ask the responsible collector for an existing delinquent real-estate report, account/payment ledger or current lien-redemption calculation. Identify the municipality, block/lot/qualifier or tax-account ID, years, desired as-of date and preferred inspection/electronic-copy format. Ask whether tax, sewer, water and other municipal charges are separate. For a formal existing-records request, use that municipality’s records custodian/OPRA route; confirm any copying, extract or certification charges before ordering.

What to ask for

“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Morris County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”

Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.

County-specific notes

Morris Township is separate from the Town of Morristown despite the nearby mailing addresses. The page’s Search Tax Records route leads to the county Tax Board, which is not a substitute for the collector’s current unpaid or redemption calculation. The posted October 21, 2026 auction concerns a dated 2025-delinquency sale; later status requires office confirmation. Reviewed status concerns source/access guidance, not certified taxpayer liability. Tax-sale notices, recorded liens, assessed values and current collector balances have different coverage. No taxpayer rows, sale-list attachments or account results are reproduced.

An independent directory, not a government agency.

We help you locate records; we do not store taxpayer lists, determine delinquency, collect taxes, or sell tax liens. Confirm balances, payment status, deadlines, and fees with the responsible office. A tax-sale list is not a complete list of delinquent accounts.
