Jefferson County Treasurer / Property Tax
County tax-records access guidanceHow to find the information
The county’s Property Tax Search guidance explicitly warns that not all taxes are available. For omitted years or accounts, request the existing ledger/current payoff from Treasurer at 406-225-4100.
To obtain an existing delinquent real-property report, account/payment ledger, bill copy or dated redemption/payoff calculation, provide the county tax ID/parcel or geocode if known, tax years, desired as-of date and preferred inspection or electronic-copy format. Ask which taxes, interest, penalties and costs are included and confirm any copy, certification or extract charge. A dated list, lien or deed record does not certify today’s unpaid balance.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Jefferson County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
The page separately says assignment business is not accepted during November and May tax season. That restriction concerns assignment processing, not proof that tax records are unavailable. Review concerns access guidance rather than certified taxpayer liability. No account registration, payment, lien-assignment application or records-request submission was made; no taxpayer rows or owner-list attachments are included in this import.
