PROPERTY TAX RESEARCH, MADE SIMPLER
Jackson County, Michigan
Where to look, which office to contact, and how to request records.
Where to obtain records
Jackson County Treasurer / Delinquent Real Property Tax Records
Official county property-tax access and records guidanceHow to find the information
The county directs users to obtain a parcel ID through the local office or county GIS and to call Treasury at 517-788-4418 for an exact payoff before mailing payment. A rejected payment restores the unpaid tax to the roll. Request the existing ledger or dated forfeiture/foreclosure record beyond ordinary payment information.
For an existing-record request, provide the parcel identifier, city/township/village, tax year and desired as-of date. Distinguish the county delinquent collection ledger from a current local bill, recorded forfeiture certificate, foreclosure petition/judgment, auction result or proceeds record. Ask whether special assessments, utility charges, later adjustments, interest, fees and recent payments are included. Confirm inspection, electronic-copy, certification, research and extract charges. An assessment, payment receipt or auction catalog does not certify the complete current unpaid balance.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Jackson County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
