How to find the information

Start with the municipality where the property lies. The reviewed example below covers Dover-Foxcroft only. For another locality in Piscataquis County, use the Office website link to Maine.gov’s local directory, identify the correct city/town, and ask its clerk or tax collector for the custodian of delinquent real-property records.

For Dover-Foxcroft property, use Town Clerk. The page identifies tax/payment collection among the office’s functions and publishes extension 1010. Ask the office to route delinquency, payment-history or payoff questions to the current collection/finance custodian.

For an existing delinquent real-estate report, payment history or current payoff, provide the municipality, parcel/account or map/lot identifier if known, tax years, desired as-of date and preferred inspection or electronic-copy format. Ask which existing record is available and obtain a fee estimate for copies, extracts or certification before ordering.

Unorganized Territory property: use Maine Revenue Services at https://www.maine.gov/revenue/taxes/property-tax/unorganized-territory. Request the existing account or delinquency record for the township, plan/lot, tax years and desired as-of date. Property Tax Division contact: 207-624-5600; prop.tax@maine.gov. Confirm access and any fees before ordering.

What to ask for

“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Piscataquis County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”

Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.

County-specific notes

This is a reviewed municipal office route, not an inspected live unpaid-account database. Assessing has a different extension and handles valuation records. A general town record, assessed-property card or bill is not automatically a delinquency report. For property in an unorganized township, confirm the separate Maine Revenue Services route. Maine.gov’s local directory is a routing resource; municipal clerks are not automatically the tax-record custodian. The state clerk directory is also available at https://www.maine.gov/sos/elections-voting/find-a-municipal-clerk-or-registrar. Reviewed status applies to source/access guidance, not taxpayer liability. No taxpayer search, payment, registration or records request was submitted; no owner-level rows were downloaded or republished.

We help you locate records; we do not store taxpayer lists, determine delinquency, collect taxes, or sell tax liens. Confirm balances, payment status, deadlines, and fees with the responsible office. A tax-sale list is not a complete list of delinquent accounts.
