Where to obtain records
Putnam County Treasurer; Auditor for tax-sale/redemption records
Official county tax-records access guidanceHow to find the information
Tax Sale Information distinguishes annual tax-lien sale from Commissioners certificate sale and explicitly says these are not Sheriff’s Sales. Use Treasury for the existing unpaid ledger or published certification list and ask for the Auditor’s dated redemption/certificate history after sale.
Provide the parcel/PIN or duplicate number, tax year, payable year and desired as-of date when requesting existing records. Specify current collection history, a dated delinquency publication, a tax-sale certificate/redemption record or a personal-property judgment. Ask whether assessments, penalties, costs, subsequent taxes and recent payments are included. Confirm inspection, electronic-copy, certification, research and extract charges. A valuation, payment receipt, advertised minimum bid or sheriff foreclosure is not by itself proof of every current unpaid obligation.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Putnam County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
