Macon County, Illinois
Where to look, which office to contact, and how to request records.
Where to obtain records
Macon County Treasurer / Collector; County Clerk for sold-tax redemption
Official county tax-records access guidanceHow to find the information
The Treasurer explains that the certified delinquent notice and newspaper publication identify unpaid accounts, while redemption of sold taxes takes place in the County Clerk’s Office. Its record-fee section separately lists a Statement of Tax Balance/duplicate payment receipt at $1 and a non-owner duplicate tax bill at $5. Request the appropriate existing record with the parcel and tax year.
To obtain existing unpaid-tax records, provide the parcel/PIN, tax year, payable year and desired as-of date. Specify whether you need current collection history, the annual delinquency publication, tax-sale/certificate history or a dated redemption estimate. Ask whether subsequent taxes, interest, penalties, costs and recent payments are included. Confirm inspection, electronic-copy, research, certification and extract fees with the office. Assessor valuations, ordinary property sales, trustee-auction catalogs and payment receipts do not by themselves certify every unpaid obligation.
