How to find the information

The county Property Tax Portal separates current payment status from Tax Sale (Delinquencies), which describes checking annual-sale taxes that were sold or forfeited and subsequently redeemed. Use a Property Index Number, with the property-address lookup if needed. Request an Estimate of Redemption from the Cook County Clerk for sold taxes or charges not resolved by the portal.

To obtain existing unpaid-tax records, provide the parcel/PIN, tax year, payable year and desired as-of date. Specify whether you need current collection history, the annual delinquency publication, tax-sale/certificate history or a dated redemption estimate. Ask whether subsequent taxes, interest, penalties, costs and recent payments are included. Confirm inspection, electronic-copy, research, certification and extract fees with the office. Assessor valuations, ordinary property sales, trustee-auction catalogs and payment receipts do not by themselves certify every unpaid obligation.

What to ask for

“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Cook County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”

Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.

County-specific notes

This portal page expressly says it does not reflect scavenger-sale taxes; call the Clerk to confirm that category. Current bill payment, an annual-sale status view and recorded deed/lien documents have different coverage. Old sale dates on the page are not reused. Reviewed October 28, 2026. County notices can change, and older calendars remain on some sites. No taxpayer query, CAPTCHA completion, account registration, record-request submission, bidder enrollment, upload or payment was performed. No owner-list attachments or taxpayer rows are included.

We help you locate records; we do not store taxpayer lists, determine delinquency, collect taxes, or sell tax liens. Confirm balances, payment status, deadlines, and fees with the responsible office. A tax-sale list is not a complete list of delinquent accounts.
