Where to obtain records
Brown County Treasurer / Collector; County Clerk for sold-tax redemption
Official county tax-records access guidanceHow to find the information
The Treasurer describes preparation of delinquent tax lists and obtaining tax-sale judgment orders; sold-tax redemption is handled by the County Clerk. Its current notice says Brown County will acquire all delinquent real-estate taxes as Trustee for the 2025 payable 2026 year, with no private-buyer purchase of those real-estate taxes. Request the existing list, account ledger or Clerk redemption estimate.
To obtain existing unpaid-tax records, provide the parcel/PIN, tax year, payable year and desired as-of date. Specify whether you need current collection history, the annual delinquency publication, tax-sale/certificate history or a dated redemption estimate. Ask whether subsequent taxes, interest, penalties, costs and recent payments are included. Confirm inspection, electronic-copy, research, certification and extract fees with the office. Assessor valuations, ordinary property sales, trustee-auction catalogs and payment receipts do not by themselves certify every unpaid obligation.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Brown County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
The 2026 trustee notice is more specific than the page’s older general description of private bidding. Real-estate and mobile-home records should be requested separately. Reviewed October 28, 2026. County notices can change, and older calendars remain on some sites. No taxpayer query, CAPTCHA completion, account registration, record-request submission, bidder enrollment, upload or payment was performed. No owner-list attachments or taxpayer rows are included.
