How to find the information
For delinquent real-property tax balances, payment history or an existing countywide delinquency report, call the county tax office’s Collections section at 808-961-8282. Provide the Tax Map Key (TMK), property location and tax years; for a countywide report, specify real-property scope, report as-of date and electronic-copy or inspection preference. Ask for the current public search link and a copy/export or certification fee estimate before ordering. The office’s published contact page separately identifies general records/extract inquiries at 808-961-8365. Published Hilo office location: Aupuni Center, 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 4, Hilo, HI 96720. The office also publishes a Request to Access a Government Record under Miscellaneous Forms; ask which custodian should receive the request.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Hawaii County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
The Collections number is distinct from the office’s clerical/assessment and mapping lines. This guide concerns Hawaii County on Hawaii Island, rather than all counties in the state. An official state payment entry was inspected, but no taxpayer lookup, current balance, complete delinquency list or export was verified. Direct-access restrictions in this review are not proof that the county’s public records service is unavailable. Payment processing charges are not evidence of a records-access fee.
