PROPERTY TAX RESEARCH, MADE SIMPLER
New Castle County, Delaware
Where to look, which office to contact, and how to request records.
Where to obtain records
New Castle County Office of Finance — Treasury Division
County tax-record access and payment-status guidanceHow to find the information
Use the Office website button to open the county’s current Parcel Search at its slash-separated /parcel/search/ address. The source link opens Tax Information & Forms, where the county identifies Parcel Search as the route to property-tax information and payment status. County-published instructions recommend a parcel number or street number and street name, omitting suffixes such as Road or Avenue. These instructions were reviewed; the live search controls and results were not tested. Match the parcel and distinguish a dated bill from payment status and a current collection balance. For an existing countywide delinquent real-estate report or year-by-year tax history, contact Treasury at 302-395-5340 or treasury@newcastlede.gov. Specify the requested fiscal/tax years, report as-of date, county/school property-tax scope and electronic-copy or inspection preference; ask for any copying, certification or export fee estimate. Published office location: New Castle County Government Center, 87 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720. If needed, use the county’s Freedom of Information Act request route for an existing record.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for New Castle County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
The older dotted /parcel.search/ address returned an error during review and is not used as the primary lookup link. The county tax guide still contains an older nccde.org parcel link; the current slash-separated newcastlede.gov route is corroborated by a county-published parcel-search FAQ. A separate Paymentus page is for payments and does not establish a complete delinquency dataset. Tax and sewer charges may appear in the same county services; request real-estate tax records specifically. The Sheriff explains that its sale offerings can involve mortgage nonpayment, local taxes or judgments, so a sheriff-sale listing is not a tax-delinquency-only roll. Confirm any separately billed municipal charges with the appropriate office rather than assuming a county entry clears every local obligation. Review covers source/access guidance, not verified taxpayer balances.
