Where to look, which office to contact, and how to request records.

Sonoma County Tax Collector / Property Tax Records
Official defaulted-tax dataset metadataHow to find the information
Sonoma publishes Defaulted Tax Data on its official open-data site. The metadata describes prior-year delinquent tax information as of July 1 of the current fiscal year and showed an October 17, 2026 update at review. Use this published dataset route for the defined snapshot and ask the Tax Collector to confirm an existing current ledger or redemption amount.
For an existing delinquent secured-property report, parcel account/payment ledger, bill copy or dated redemption amount, provide the parcel/account/assessment reference, fiscal years, desired as-of date and inspection or electronic-copy format. Ask which current, supplemental, defaulted and payment-plan amounts are included, whether recent payments have posted, and whether any power-to-sell or sale status applies. Confirm record-copy, certification, research or extract fees. A valuation roll, recorded lien, payment screen or dated sale inventory does not certify today’s unpaid balance.
What to ask for
“I am looking for publicly available delinquent real-property tax records for Sonoma County for [tax year]. Which office maintains these records? Is there an online search or downloadable list? If not, how can I request a copy, and what fees apply?”
Have the property address, parcel number, owner name, and tax year ready when searching for a particular property.
County-specific notes
Only published dataset metadata was reviewed; no taxpayer dataset rows or export were downloaded. A later metadata/update date does not change the stated July 1 coverage into a live payoff balance. The county also links a separate bill-search service. No taxpayer query, account registration, CAPTCHA verification, records-request submission, upload or payment was made. No taxpayer rows or owner-list attachments are included.
